چکیده

The twin—twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a congenital pathology affecting 15% of monochorionic twin pregnancies [1]. The treatment modes most frequently applied at present include serial amnioreduction [2] and selective endoscopic laser coagulation of anastomoses (ELCA) [3]. The only prospective, randomized, controlled study that has been performed to compare the effectiveness of these two treatment techniques for TTTS is the

Elective laparoscopic fetal laser photocoagulation in twin-twin transfusion syndrome: a case report.

Twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a complication of multiple gestation in which arteriovenous vascular communications occur in a shared placenta. Due to these communications, there is an imbalance of blood flow between the developing fetuses. This results in 1 twin becoming the donor and the other becoming the recipient. In severe cases, the recipient may experience polycythemia, polyhyd...

Fetoscopic laser therapy for twin-twin transfusion syndrome.

Twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) complicates approximately 1 in 5 of all monochorionic, diamniotic twin pregnancies. If of early onset and untreated, severe TTTS is associated with a dismal prognosis, with perinatal mortality rates exceeding 90%. The most controversial issue regarding the optimal treatment of TTTS has centered on the use of amniocentesis or laser until the first and only r...

Limb constriction secondary to pseudoamniotic band syndrome after selective fetoscopic laser surgery: report of a case with a favorable outcome.

Pseudoamniotic band syndrome (PABS) is an iatrogenic complication that causes entanglement of fetal parts in a constrictive sheet of detached or ruptured amniotic membrane after an invasive procedure, namely amniocentesis, amnioreduction or septostomy in twins. The incidence and risk factors for PABS after fetoscopy-guided laser have not been documented [Winer et al.: Am J Obstet Gynecol 2008;1...

Incidence, origin, and character of cerebral injury in twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome treated with fetoscopic laser surgery.

OBJECTIVE The objective of the study was to determine the incidence, origin, and character of cerebral lesions in monochorionic twins with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome treated with fetoscopic laser surgery. STUDY DESIGN This was a prospective study of monochorionic twins with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome treated with fetoscopic laser surgery and monochorionic twins without twin-to-t...

The Treatments of Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome in Monochorionic Twin Pregnancies by the Fetoscopic Laser Photocoagulation

Fetoscopic laser surgery for severe Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) has been conducted since early 1990s in United States and Europe. After the conclusion of Eurofetus in the randomized clinical trial [1], fetoscopic laser surgery has become the standard and optimal treatment for the TTTS condition. Recently, the techniques have been implemented throughout the globe; many institutions hav...
